Jane Ellison
has been teaching for over 20 years. Her work evolves from extensive
study of movement, anatomy, and body-mind practices including yoga and
meditation. It is particularly influenced by Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen's
Body-Mind Centering. Since 1990 she has been a movement teacher on the
faculty of Langara College's Theatre program, Studio 58.
Ongoing Classes:
Workouts
for all levels that incorporate release work, stretch, strength and
cardio. Through attention to breath and awareness of sensation you learn
to work safely in alignment, connected to your own body, at your own
pace. These classes are fun and use eclectic, irresistible music.
Tuesdays and
Thursdays 5:30-7pm
Saturdays and Sundays 10-11:30am
Single class $7 5 classes $30 10 classes $50
Classes are ongoing and drop-in.
For information call Jane at 604-876-4146.
Experiential Anatomy Workshops:
These are part of an ongoing series of workshops exploring anatomy through
the living experience of our own physical structures. They are open to all,
and particularly useful to those who have or teach a body-mind or movement
practice. Tools for learning to embody anatomical information will include
movement explorations, visualization, hands-on work, and applications in
yoga postures. This approach to learning anatomy has been informed by many
studies, including Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen's Body-Mind Centering.
Experiential Anatomy
workshops are attended by health-practitioners, yoga and dance teachers,
dancers, athletes, actors, and anyone wanting a deeper connection with their
body and its wisdom.
At this time,
no Experiential Anatomy Workshops are scheduled. Please check back at this
webpage periodically for updates.
Jane also
offers private consultations and has produced several audio tapes and
a videotape of guided exercises.
