This spring EDAM will host Montreal dance artist Andrew Harwood. He will teach two workshops at EDAM:
Suspension (of weight, time, balance and disbelief)
March 27-31, Mon-Fri 9:30-12:30
Suspension in air permits a stretch of time and freer movement. Suspension is a system of springs or shock absorbers, allowing us to cushion impact. Suspension also refers to postponing judgement – suspending disbelief. In these classes we will explore the complexities of suspension. This workshop is for professional performers and experienced improvisers.
April 1-2, Sat & Sun noon-6pm
What is so wonderful about instantaneous choreography is that suddenly the elements erupt before you, just like that, and it is essential to seize them. That’s what poetry is! At that moment, you must throw caution to the wind and dive in. Through the awareness of visual and non-visual perception, we will tune into our inner and outer world to awaken the imagination for real-time composition. This workshop is open to all levels.
To reserve your place in either workshop, send a $50 non-refundable deposit (cheque or money order), payable to EDAM Dance, to: EDAM Dance, 303 E. 8th Ave., Vancouver, V5T 1S1. Please specify which workshop you wish to attend. The balance of the fee will be due the first day of class.
