Guest artist Daina Ashbee has worked with collaborators Francesca Frewer and Antonio Somera Jr. to create Ashbee’s first male-female duet.
Bricolage, created and performed by Yves Candau, Rob Kitsos, Martin Gotfrit and Nur Intan Murtadza. In ordinary language: The activity of tinkering, cobbling, or patching things together using a DIY approach. By extension: Making work from found objects and materials available at hand to create something new. The work comes out of a collaborative process of real-time composition, attending to what we bring with us and what we find ourselves immersed in. In these iterations of our process we are particularly inspired by the warmth, depth, and resonant perspectives of the Edam studio.
EDAM’s Artistic Director, Peter Bingham builds on previous iterations of his directed ensemble improvisations. Forming layers of meaning and relationship, the score sets up a revealing course of interjections and rejections. The audience is invited into an exchange with the dancers as they attend to unfolding details, drawing from memory, presence, and a shared history. Performed by Delia Brett, Anne Cooper, Elissa Hanson, Arash Khakpour, Walter Kubanek, Alex Mah, Diego Romero, and Olivia Shaffer.
EDAM gratefully acknowledges the financial support of the Canada Council for the Arts, the Province of British Columbia, the BC Arts Council and the City of Vancouver.
