EDAM Open House + Announcement from Peter Bingham

As many of you may know, due to progressing health challenges, Peter Bingham is retiring as EDAM’s Artistic Director at the end of this year. Along with Peter’s retirement, there is some more personal and sensitive news that Peter would like to share with you in his own words:

“Dear Family, Friends and Colleagues,

I have decided to take advantage of the MAID program. I have Parkinson’s and am choosing to move beyond the disease. I will be passing in the near future on a date that is yet to be determined.

Please join me after Morning Class on December 15th, 17th and 18th for an Open House with coffee and donuts. Come say hello just to say goodbye. Come as you are. A sense of humour is appreciated.”

- Peter Bingham

We, at EDAM, want to acknowledge the tenderness of this time, and the strange overlap between art, work, life and grief that we are navigating as an organization and a community. 2025 marks Peter’s 36th year as Artistic Director, and EDAM’s 43rd year as a Company. We do not have the words to describe the countless ways Peter has nourished and shaped so many of our artistic, professional, and personal lives as a choreographer, teacher, collaborator, colleague, mentor, and friend. We hope you will join us in celebrating Peter in December at our Open House.
