Offering Levity, Supporting Flight
A Weekend Workshop with Anne Cooper
Saturday June 22, 12:30-5:30pm
Sunday June 23, 12:30-5:30pm
This intermediate level workshop focuses on rising in to access another’s offered loft, weight and structure and on giving/aiming one’s weight both incrementally and in an instant, offering levity to the dance. Developing an interplay with the physical forces present and offered in the dance as a primary interest, we will work to cultivate lightness, loft, support, playfulness, responsive recovery, and mutuality in the dancing. This workshop is for people who have had a continuity of practice with the basic movement principles and practices within contact improvisation, and are interested in exploring the range from the meditative and subtle to athletic, buoyant dancing.
